Barry of backpackBarry.com, an archeologist by training but now one of the best informed and informative guides to the wonders and wines of southern France.

Hostess Ginnie Munden comes to us from Burgundy where she lives with her family and occasionally works on other barge hotels. Although famous for her table decoration skills Ginnie also works as a professional photogragher, yoga teacher and tends her herb garden.

Ollie Timberlake, the Chef, was born in England to Jamaican Indian parents. Her love of food bought her to France and barging where she has been cooking for over 14 years. Winters find her catering chalets in the French Alps when not skiing herself. While on the barges, Ollie is known to jog or do yoga in the mornings.

Berend Gozens, the Captain, has thirty years experience in the barging industry. He and Barbara met in France at "le Gatain Lock" in 1978. They have been barging ever since; Holland for the tulip season in spring, Paris, Moselle, the Rhine, Nivernais and Burgundy for summers and winters. Berend has built many barges including the sister barges Anjodi & Stella Maris (their first barge) which he outfitted in 1982. Barbara and Berend then plied the waterways of Alsace with Stella Maris for several years. In 1996 they sailed south and have finally dropped anchor a few locks down from Beziers Port where Clair de Lune is now based. Barbara and Berend designed, built and decorated the Clair de Lune to be the practical and spacious luxury boat that she is. Clair de Lune’s cherry wood finishing has gained depth with the satin varnish as she begins her 8th season. Winters still find Berend busy boat building in the old wine cellar along with a brokerage and ship surveying business.
